About Us
For three generations, the Mania’ family has maintained wine-making practices that produce the high-quality wines so characteristic of the Italian Collio. At an early age, grandson Gianni showed interest in farming, learning the art of growing grapes and other friuts and the characteristics of the Collio’s soils as he follone his grandfather, Mirko, around the farm. Over the last 20 years, Gianni has mastered the wine-making secrets his grandfather taught him and has gained a deep appreciation of the potential of the lands he cares for the orchards and wineyards.
The Mania’ family’s wineyards occupy around 17 acres of the green hills of the Collio countryside. The Collio was one of the first areas in Italy to be recognized as a Denominazione di Origine Controllata – DOC zone. Situated between the sea and the mountains, the Collio is famous for producing premium-quality wines because of its mineral-rich soils and mild climate.
At the Mania’ Winery, the grapes are gently hand harvested. In fact, mosto f the work is done by hand, allowing the flavors of the rich, ripe fruit to develop to their full potential. Produced in this patient, gentle way, our wines are the culmination of the Collio culture and our family’s traditions.
The Mania’ Winery produces four varieties of wine: Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon, our first two bottled wines, as well as Ribolla Gialla and Merlot. The family hopes to produce more varieties in the future.
